The GYROTONIC ® Exercise method is a great compliment and addition to a Pilates Practice

GYROTONIC® sessions…..$72

gyrotonicThe GYROTONIC® exercise method is a fluid exercise that was designed by Juliu Horvath. GYROTONIC®sessions strengthen the body in fluid movement that takes the spine and limbs in circular and spiraling motions. Using the principle strength through contrast, clients are encouraged to increase their range of motion and to push the bounds of linear movement. After a few GYROTONIC®sessions clients notice that it is easier to back out of their driveway. Getting up from the floor seems like less of a hassle. They may even notice an added grace and clarity in their gate. The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®also designed by Juliu Horvath, supports the client in these beautiful movements that increase strength and flexibility while maintaining the safety of the client.

The Pilates Studio is thrilled to have Ivy Patterson teaching GYROTONIC® sessions and GYROKINESIS® classes.

“…in the Gyrotonic sessions I have become ever more aware of your deep understanding of the dynamics of movement and your ability to show what you teach by the way you can move. It is fascinating….I hold what you do in very high regard. You are as talented a mover I have ever known. I cannot say enough. You are brilliant. You are talented. And you do what you do with much care and an open heart.” -Dana Bixby, Architect, West Stockbridge, MA

started Pilates last year in recovery from a herniated disc and sciatica, upon recommendation from a number of people including my sports medicine doc. Wow, what a life changing event--and I don't mean the back injury. I've had low-grade back pain for ~30 years since starting martial arts practice in my 20's, and my back is now better than it's been since before then! Katrina has helped me really understand how my body works and moves, and I quickly got back to my routines in dance, rock climbing, splitting wood, etc.--and general embracing of my physical life--even better than in the past. My regular workouts on the Pilates apparatus at the Hadley studio are a fixture in my life, and occasional series of independent sessions with Katrina help me on my path toward continued improvement in feeling good and moving strong and free.

And one more thing: the studio is so wonderfully laid out and managed, with such attention to detail, that it's a pleasure just be there. I feel very taken care of!
